Treatments

Soft Tissue Manipulation/ Myofascial Release – Soft tissue adhesions and myofascial restriction develop as a result of muscular overuse or chronic shortening from sustained postures or repetitive activity. Release of these tissues is essential in alleviation of painful referral patterns as well as restoring normal tissue mobility.

Joint Mobilization – Mobilization of restricted joints is crucial to ensure proper spine and soft tissue movement. Stiff or rigid joints in one region of the body will cause another region to develop excessive mobility. This compensation will manifest as a movement dysfunction and predispose the area to pain and injury. When movement dysfunctions are not treated they often develop into chronic pain.

Neural Manipulation – Neural Manipulation identifies and releases local nerve restrictions while at the same time examines the effect these local fixations have on the rest of the body, and by accessing this relationship, resolves the more comprehensive (global) dysfunctional patterns.

Visceral Manipulation – “Viscera” relates to the internal organs of the body, such as the liver, kidneys, intestines, and reproductive organs. Visceral Manipulation (VM) is a gentle manual therapy that aids your body’s ability to release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain and dysfunction. Visceral manipulation does not focus solely on the site of pain or dysfunction, but evaluates the entire body to find the source of the problem. Visceral manipulation therapy re-establishes the body’s ability to adapt and restore itself to health.

Craniosacral Therapy – CrainoSacral Therapy (CST) is a light-touch approach that releases restrictions in the connective tissue that surround the brain and spinal cord, helping to improve the central nervous system function, and in turn allowing a reduction of pain and stress. This light-touch therapy strengthens your resistance to disease, and enhances your health and well being.

Postural Re-education – Postural alignment is important to address in order to restore the optimum positioning of the body, which in turn promotes a balance in weight distribution on the regions involved. This allows the body to function at its highest potential during activities of daily living without adding unnecessary strain.

Neuromuscular Re-education – Neuromuscular re-education is an essential part of the rehabilitation process. This education allows us to train you in proper alignment of the upper extremities in relationship to the trunk during exercise, home or work activities. Completion of this process includes strengthening musculature that stabilize the upper and lower extremities, as well as lengthening shortened muscle groups through stretching, followed by training in the new lengthened range. Some training techniques utilized are:

  • Biofeedback Training with specific muscle re-education
  • Core and Dynamic Stabilization Programs
  • Plyometrics
  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
  • Joint Specific Taping Techniques
  • Sport / ADL Specific Training

Functional Progression to Work and Sport Activities – Personalized Programs are developed to address your individual needs and goals to obtain maximum benefit in physical therapy.
