About

Chrissie Morgan Sulkess is a highly accredited physical therapist. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science with a certificate in physical therapy from California State University, Northridge. She has more than 22 years of hands-on experience, practicing in the orthopedic and wellness setting, specializing in orthopedics, sports medicine, and women’s health. Her extensive work with athletes includes treating and training professional water polo players and surfers, collegiate athletes competing in baseball, softball, and swimming. Chrissie worked with the San Clemente High School Dance team for more than 10 years to help with injury prevention and rehabilitation. Focusing on movement imbalance systems as developed by Shirley Sarhmann, PT allows her to address the body’s faulty movement patterns and uncover the cause of muscle weakness and overuse, resulting in the body’s tendency to be “strong wrong”. Chrissie’s ability to bring the body back into mechanical balance and then re-educate the movements with specific muscle recruitment patterns makes the chance of re-injury is far less likely.

Always seeking to add to her skill set to help those in need, Chrissie continues to enhance her knowledge and treatment ability through visceral manipulation, neural manipulation, craniosacral therapy, and brainwork through the International Alliance of Heath Educators (IAHE). By incorporating these techniques where appropriate, Chrissie’s results for helping patients to achieve greater function and ease of daily life and sport have been outstanding. Headaches, concussions, irritated nervous systems, the shoulder that doesn’t resolve due to underlying lung or organ restriction, can all be addressed at greater depth to aid in normalizing the body’s function as a whole. Orthopedics combined with osteopathy allows for an in depth assessment and treatment of the entire body, connecting the inside to the framework for amazing results in decreased pain and increased function and quality of life.

Body Awareness uses no support staff, spends the entire treatment session with the patient one-on-one, and tailors each treatment to the needs of the patient and their goals for function.

Chrissie started Body Awareness Physical Therapy in 2000 in Costa Mesa and added a second location in San Clemente in 2004. Dedication to providing quality physical therapy to the community has always been the focus of her business. As health insurance has taken a greater role in dictating treatment, Chrissie felt that she was only able to continue her standard of care by changing her practice model. The changes Chrissie has made allows her to treat and educate each patient directly for the duration of the session. She uses no support staff, spends the entire treatment session with the patient one-on-one, and tailors each treatment to the needs of the patient and their goals for function.

San Clemente is Chrissie’s community. She resides here in this beautiful beach town with her husband Glenn and 2 children, Luci and Nate.
